“Smile Because it Happened”

“Don’t cry because it’s over – smile because it happened!” These are the words posted on the original Moores Inlet website by Joe Bilbee, the iconic legendary DJ who rocked North Wildwood for decades. Joe and his partner, Mike Gaudagno, built a history and legacy of “island living” with one of the most popular, long run, establishments at the Jersey Shore.

Both Joe and Mike passed away several years after selling the original “Moores Inlet” property to Beazer Development, which would then be developed as The Pointe at Moores Inlet, a premier 60 unit up-scale condominium complex.

With all the ambiance of choice island living, a one of a kind beautiful ocean front vista, The Pointe at Moores Inlet now occupies the exact spot where the original Moores Inlet restaurant and nightclub thrived for decades.

After Beazer Development completed the meticulous construction, Joe and Mike were among the new owners occupying the highly revered condos in 2008. These two charismatic men immediately connected with the new owners through their smiles, open arms, and sharing stories about the property they cherished, their business that thrived, the patrons they loved and community they supported.

We soon found a magic about these two men that were apparently “Master Imagineers” throughout their whole career. They were successful because they knew how to engage people; how to talk and laugh with people, and yes, how to kick up your heels to dance the night away or just simply lay back and have a good time.

But most of all, they knew the magic of something people in the area yearn for; The sound of the ocean waves, glimpsing the rising sun, breathing the aroma of salt air and feeling the soft sand between your toes.

Both Joe and Mike had a great appreciation for the beauty of this unique property and the view. They told stories as Proprietors of Moores Inlet that they would occasionally treat certain guests to the roof top above their restaurant. Here they would set up a single table decorated elegantly, serve a special meal, pour a glass of wine, and then leave them to the inspiration of the waves and gentle breezes. Joe and Mike had an amazing gift of grace making all feel welcome and appreciated as well as setting up their rooftop table endless times to share an appreciation for this piece of heaven on earth and the ability to dream.

Congratulations on making your decision of ownership at The Pointe at Moores Inlet! We look forward to your involvement and support as we collectively strive to maintain and enhance this wonderful facility, “The Pointe’, for decades to come…

Special Note: After Mike passed in 2013 and Joe passed in June 2015, on Sept 3, 2016 The Pointe at Moores Inlet overflowed onto West Spruce Avenue as the Mayor of North Wildwood presented a proclamation declaring September 3rd annually be recognized as Joe Bilbee and Mike Gaudagno Day in their honor. A commemorative sign hangs in the Common Area of our Gym to remind us of this honor and their legacy.
